Dementia UK say there will be at least 200 Admiral Nurses by the end of 2016.

Dementia UK, Admiral Nurses update...

In order to boost fundraising this festive season my e-book 'Scaling the Dragon's Back.' memories of my trek of The Great Wall is on 50% sale (at £2.50 that's less than the cost of a high street cup of coffee).
All proceeds from books sold (after publisher fees) will be donated to continue my support of Dementia care.
The book is available from Amazon for Kindle, Barnes and Noble for Nook, on Kobo, all other formats from www.theendlessbookcase.co.uk.  Also available from Beezeebooks.com

2014 saw a 38% increase in the number of Dementia UK, Admiral Nurses up from 102 to 140.  As Dementia UK have said this is great to see.  However, this is still a shortfall of 868 Admiral Nurses.  Dementia UK think there needs to be 1000 Admiral Nurses across the UK to support more families living with dementia.

Admiral Nursing is the only service to provide practical and emotional care to whole families affected by dementia, and Dementia UK understand how highly valued they are to those who have access to them. Unfortunately as yet not all areas of the UK has access to this invaluable help.

There is the national DIRECT helpline

In 2014 year Dementia UK were able to extend the opening hours of the Admiral Nursing DIRECT helpline to times that are more convenient for callers. As a result Dementia UK have seen a huge uplift in the number of calls received and have welcomed more incredibly talented and experienced nurses onto the team. Dementia UK are committed to opening more lines in the coming months to support even more families with questions or concerns about dementia.

Contact details for the DIRECT helpline are; Telephone: 0845 257 9406 or email direct@dementiauk.org.  DIRECT is open Monday to Friday 9.15 – 16.45.

Let’s help Dementia UK to increase the number of Admiral Nurses and extend the DIRECT helpline so that they can support more families living with dementia.
