Admiral Nurses, never heard of them?

In September 2012 Karen Patrick walked part of the Great Wall of China for Dementia Care.
Her story is related in her book 'Scaling the Dragon's Back' which is available from Amazon for Kindle, Barnes and Noble for Nook, on Kobo and on all other formats from theendlessbookcase.co.uk

Her book is sold in support of Dementia Care.

Well, you are not alone, most people have not.

When deciding to undertake the trek of The Great Wall of China I chose to raise funds for Dementia UK, the national charity that supports Admiral Nurses. I wanted to increase awareness of their existence and raise money to support the vital work these specialist dementia nurses carry out.

Admiral Nurses are registered mental health nurses who work in the community and other care settings and provide much needed support and guidance to people with dementia and their families. Dementia can be a particularly cruel and challenging illness and Admiral Nurses support families through each stage of the illness.  Admiral Nurses essentially help and enable carers to cope. They provide family carers with the skills and practical advice and information to better understand and deal with the condition.  Dementia UK also provides the Admiral Nursing DIRECT helpline which is staffed by qualified and experienced Admiral Nurses.
